Behind the door
What Waits Inside Great Northern Casino
Once the car is parked at 10910 107 Avenue, the building holds slots, VLTs, live tables, poker and two places to eat. Each part is set out below in plain lists, so nobody drives in from Fort St. John for a game that is not there.

Machines
Slots and VLTs
Past the doors, 30,000 square feet of the building is given over to entertainment space. Over 400 slot machines fill the floor.
The VLTs sit apart, 40 of them in a separate room of their own. So a trip planned around VLTs ends in that room, and a trip planned around slots ends out on the floor. The dealer games come next.
Poker room
Three tables for poker
Poker has 3 dedicated tables. Cash games on offer are Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold'em and Dealer's Choice. Dealer's Choice cycles through Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple, No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha.
A seat can be reserved from one day before the game, during poker room hours. Ask the Houseman in the room, or call 780-539-4454 and dial extension 121. Start times shift from day to day, and the room posts no separate opening hours. The Houseman is the one to ask before you leave town.
Tables
Six games with a dealer
- Blackjack, the classic version of the card game.
- Free Bet Blackjack, listed as its own game beside Blackjack.
- Ultimate Texas Hold'em, a table game kept separate from the poker room's cash games.
- Three Card Poker, also on the table list rather than in the poker room.
- Roulette, the wheel game among the six.
- Chase The Flush, the last of the six; no table minimums are posted for any of them.
The story
Who runs it and how it began
The casino first opened in 1999. Since then, more than 400 local charities have raised money through it. In June 2026, PURE Casino Entertainment became the owner when its purchase of Gamehost Inc. closed. The Great Northern name stayed, and the casino says it carries on as before.
It is also a winner of Best Bar None, a local award and accreditation for responsible alcohol service, in the casino category. Out-of-town groups can book privately for a birthday, anniversary, company party, poker party or dine-and-dance night. Reservations are handled at extension 100 on the main line, 780-539-4454.
The card
Carrying Winner's Edge
Great Northern Casino has no players club of its own. Instead it directs players to Winner's Edge, the AGLC card used in Alberta casinos. Guest Services, at extension 0 on the main line, hands out the card, and adults 18 and over get one by showing government ID. Bring that ID along before leaving town.
